David Peckinpaugh ~ The Unconditional Condition

There are many questions we ask of ourselves and the world. Throughout long-time, many have sat around the counsel fires speaking of the unspeakable.... approaching the unapproachable.... expounding on the inexplicable.... proclaiming that which cannot be proclaimed, yet, which Is the Essence of all derivatives----all of these conditions that flow and form like pure magic.

It is no secret that we "like" to know.... that we possess a need to understand.... that to a certain extent we are "driven" by a force to 'grok' the nature of our existence, and the potential purpose of this very same existence; that we want to find out and find in..... that we live to look.... and abide so as to observe is no secret. We are fundamentally "seekers": seekers out of pain and into pleasure; seekers into feelings of "more" aliveness; seekers of knowing---knowing more of the know-able; seekers to, and away from, the Primordial TapRoot of the Tree of Life. Seekers; fundamentally seeking.

Since the time of an ancestral hunting and gathering we have been looking for the quenching resolution of our insatiable thirst. Deeper we peer, out and into space.... on micro and macro levels we peer.... seeking for the clues to...... questions...... to the potent problems we "appear" to face and foster. Farther we spread our wings..... in and out...... in and out.... contracting and expanding.... in and out ..... we spread our wings... flapping our tails on high-water.... drumming our feet on dusty land...

Down we plunge... into fathomless depths.... submerged into novelty.... as the same questions play us as a song yet again. Consciousness, here, investigating Its own projected and magnified Creative Impulses. Consciousness, now, overlaying Primordial PureUnity with cloth of flesh and blood, bone and bark. Consciousness, here, obscuring Its own Unborn Face. Consciousness, now, the Unconditioned, hiding out in vast incarnations, playing out diverse conditions....

As Consciousness moves through and abides in ItSelf, in and as the Expanseless Sea of Primordial PureUnity, various superimposition's create the "appearance" of some-thing. The first "thing(s)" arise in space of No-thing-ness.

Simple intimacy with space allows for space to reveal itself to us as a potent signifier of the UnConditoned. A mere simple presence to witnessing the all-allowing capacity of space reveals unmistakable qualities of the Unconditioned: Conditionlessness of Primordial PureUnity; an unthreatened and unthreatening Primordial Statelessness that simply and merely allows multiple states and conditions to be and become what they will----all symbolized by space.

All elements of existence are known to be in space...... are allowed to be in space. Space is truly the UnConditonal signifier of the Kosmos; that UnConditon-All wherein every condition and cause is allowed to be played out by diverse multitudes of conditioned beings/bodies/minds.

In the space before each of us now, that space that allows and accepts unconditionally every element of our existence, this is allowed to be..... allowed to be beyond negation. For instance, take the elements of fire, earth, air, and water. Now, in the space that simply is, we can strike a match and watch space allow fire to be. We can, then, toss a piece of earth through that same space---or hold it there for a time---and again witness space allow an elemental to be. And, when the piece of earth is no longer held in this space, we can blow air through that space that allowed fire and earth "to be" as well. And finally, we can hold a glass of water above that same space where earth, fire, and air where also, and pour water into and through that space. Space just accepts What Is.... allows it to be.... unconditionally unthreatened by "appearances"..... Space just allows.

Space, then, it would appear, is a very fitting analogy for elucidating the Primordial PureUnity of Consciousness. Just as space allows all manner of elemental thingness" to arise and dissipate within Its field/fold, so too, does Consciousness similarly allow all manner of elemental subjects/objects to come and go. Now, Consciousness can surely come to i-dentify with various subjects/objects (elementals), and learn to train itself to draw an i-dentity from those subjects/objects. Yet, while all of this identifying and identitying is going on, the Primordial PureUnity of Consciousness, as such, is Still..... is calmly allowing the play to play, the dilemma to struggle and implode, the passions to intensify and explode. The Primordial PureUnity of the UnCaused allows cause and effect, allows conditions, allows for that which is arising/dissipating...... all phenomena....... allowed...... by the Inherently UnConditioned.

Perhaps the first duality is created by Consciousness projecting subjects/objects onto/into Space. It may be that the desire to see an interior idea, or notion, seeds, and furthermore, projects/objects that idea or notion "out there". The first divorce, apparently, rides side saddle with the first desire to see what IT would be like to have the "always already in here" suddenly be "out there".

A sense of, and the appearance of, distance and separation, are created, as Consciousness invests ItSelf into these arising/dissipating subjects/objects. It happens that certain of our subjects/objects are "perceived" to be in need of protection/preservation, so separation/distance must be exacerbated so as to protect/preserve these subjects/objects of ours from that which is "perceived" as being a threat.

The cherished ideal, or subject/object of Consciousness, is perceived as "needing" protection and preservation from that which is conceived as being a threat. The game/drama has once again begun...... all over again....... Moment to moment the separative orientation is birthed anew...... exacerbating the "sense" of alienation from SELF.

Consciousness can create the "sense" and "appearance" of separation. Both by pushing ItSelf away from that which is "perceived" as being a threat to the subjects/objects that IT is currently i-dentified with and as...... and by i-dentifying with those subjects/objects that are "perceived" as being worthy of i-dentification with and as. (Remember, these are only "senses" of separation, and "appearances" of divorce from...... not Eternal states or conditions.... for there are no Eternal states or conditions.... states rest on conditions and conditions rest on impermanence.... hence imminent mortality of all states/conditions.)

Consciousness can also grow subjects/objects by force of attraction. Consciousness, for instance, is drawn to, merges with , mixes in, and mingles with, that which It sees "out there" as being some-thing It would like to be influenced by.... to be in allegiance with This is seen in "romance"; "romance" of teacher and disciple; "romance" of lover and beloved; "romance" of attraction to that which is seen as being a "good" influence, a "blessing" or a "boon".

Conditions are, it appears, SELF/self-chosen. The Uncaused at the Heart of All chooses or aligns with, or is drawn to manifest in, certain conditional attire. There are frameworks of multiple creations..... gridworks of conditionality that "set up" possibilities for groups of beings to "appear" in; conditions which are "formulated" so as to allow for games/dramas/plays/passions to conditionally continue until exhausted of momentum.

Consciousness chooses, unconditionally, those conditions which it is a) attracted to out of some idea of gain or grace; b) conditions which are less threatening than prior known states/conditions. (towards pleasure... away from pain) This will "appear" to continue until all conditions, which are based on duality, are surrendered as the Ultimate Sphere; the Self-Arising Nature of the Self-Born..... which knows neither "good" nor "evil"..... which is thoroughly empty of any and all conditions...... of any and all subjects/objects... of all projected separations.

The choiceless aspect of Primordial PureUnity Is. To Be Conditionless Self-Arising Existence is to know this choiceless abiding. Conditions are seen as what they are---transparent "appearances"---appearances that do not last. There is no more mytho-magical projections onto the world/worlds.... attempting to make the conditional "appear" to us as the UnConditional (which is ignorance and part of the cycle of suffering). In other words, conditions are seen as merely the play of passions within the Primordial PureUnity Embrace of the All-Pervading Conditionless Sphere of the Ultimate. That which is conditional is allowed to be as it will, all within the Transcendent Embrace of the Conditionless.

Choicelessness is merely allowing the conditional to play out the momentum of prior causes, and to allow those conditions to dissipate, or come to rest in the Unconditioned Sphere of the Ultimate. Through allowing the momentum of phenomena to run its course all "things" come to rest. When conditions are still presently "appearing", and choicelessness is "allowing" these conditions their play..... all "things" do come to rest in the Unconditioned Sphere of the Ultimate.

Conditional sheaths are what "appears" to condition the Primordial PureUnity of the All-Pervading Conditionless Sphere of the Ultimate. Conditional sheaths "appear"..... "appear" to condition the UnConditional. "Appearances" are conditional sheaths..... Any-thing that can be "seen", that "appears", is conditional.

The Unseen, Unborn, Primordial PureUnity of the All-Pervading Conditionless Sphere of the Ultimate is never "seen" or "known"----such as the conditional is. For some-thing to be "seen" or "known", there must be a subject/object to see and know. There is no subject/object duality in the Unborn Primordial PureUnity of the All-Pervading Sphere of the Ultimate State of Consciousness. There is no "in here" vs.. an "out there"..... there is no-thing "seen" or "known" as being apart from SELF. All-Pervading Inclusiveness is alone the sensed residue of the Kingdom/Queendom of Heaven That Is "Within".

If there is an "out there", this still presumes a duality. An "out there" implies an apartness from. The primary dualism is the subject/object..... the subject "in here"..... the object "out there"....... Me "in here" and the Kosmos "out there"....... somewhere "out there".... way "out there".

The objects we "appear" to see are simply intersubjective definitions of one of an infinite variety of subjects. You see, subjective beings are gathered, and agree to call various and diverse phenomena "objective facts". Yet, this objectivity is an illusion. As soon as the subjective beings change their definitions of and about this or that, mysteriously, the objective facts of and about this and that also change!! (So, wheregoeth objectivity?)

For instance, atoms and molecules are not "objects". There is nothing objective about any atom or molecule. Atoms and molecules are "subjects" like us..... "subjects" that we "mutually agree upon", thus, objectifying these "subjects" into "objects". Really, only subjectivity and intersubjectivity exist. (Together creating the illusion of objective reality.)

All objective science is "mutually agreed upon" intersubjectivity..... a gathering of subjects who mutually confirm the existence of other subjects, and call these subjects "objects". It's a magic show.... an illusion.... a divorce...

Again, what is deemed "objective truth", or "facts of extreme objectivity", is merely the end result of various subjects mutually agreeing with one another about other subjects.... only later---after mutual intersubjective agreement---calling those agreements "objective truths"..... (more like mutually agreed intersubjective partial truths.)

The "intersubjective truth" of the majority becomes the objective cultural illusion..... (someday spanning the globe? An homogenized intersubjective truth sold and secured as the only "objective reality"?)

Chaos is often the result of the "intersubjective truths" of various majorities, or bodies of believers, clashing with one another. It is not that one "intersubjective truth group" has actually found the TRUTH. TRUTH is not in conflict with ITSELF, so, it is obvious that TRUTH is not involved in the partiality of "intersubjective truth groups" clashing with other "intersubjective truth groups".

Conflict is the sure sign of a bumping and bashing of competing partial truth groups claiming proprietorship over the TRUTH. "Intersubjective truth" of the majority is not the TRUTH. "Intersubjective truth" of a majority is merely a "mutually agreed upon" subject..... by other subjects..... (later "objectified" so as to be bought and sold as the TRUTH).

Objectivity is the dominant illusion fostered by those who belong to an "intersubjective truth group". Unable to accept and acknowledge Absolute Subjectivity, certain "intersubjective truth groups" foster and expound their intersubjective conclusions as "objective reality" wherein no objectivity has ever existed...... ever.....

What is taken for "objective reality" is just one of many "mass dreams". Accepting and working off from certain premises, the dreaming continues... building off from the premises of objective illusions.

An "objective reality" is constructed through intersubjective mutual agreement. Those who refuse to accept the premises of a "mass dream" are the outsiders..... subjects who do not agree with the premises of the masses.... (the objective illusions of the "intersubjective partial truth group"). Christ was just such an outsider..... teaching Absolute Subjectivity in the "mass dream" of an "objectified illusion"..... He was crucified by an "intersubjective truth group" that felt their "illusion" being threatened.... kill the messenger!!!

Conditions refer to other conditions. When we try and "heal" ourselves we are essentially affirming conditions as being the cause of Us; conditions which in and of themselves refer to other conditions which themselves were "apparently" caused by prior conditions.... which further condition..... which is the cycle of samsara....

There is no "cure" in conditional existence for spiritual ennui...... conditions only breed conditions---not and never the Unconditional. We may "assume" that certain conditions while alleve a state or states, yet, these sought after conditions breed their own offspring.... further conditions, which beget.... further conditions, which beget..... further conditions, which beget..... (I am sure you get the point.)

Whereas the conditions we are involved in the sphere of can be referenced to "other" conditions... the UnConditioned is referenced to No-thing. "Things" are conditional.... "things" come and go...... "things" rise and fall, form and fade. No-thing is not conditioned by what is or isn't..... No-thing-ness is Un-Condition-All; beyond "things", permeating all "things" is No-thing-ness; the center that is everywhere whose circumference is nowhere....... No-thing-ness.

Being No-thing-ness, THAT is able to permeate and penetrate all "things", all "conditions", all subjects/objects. Like space, No-thing-ness is entered into, even as it envelopes all things at present. Like space, space that allows, No-thing-ness does not negate subjects/objects. Subjects/objects are "always already" permeated and run through and through with Emptiness. Primordial PureUnity of Unconditioned Self-Arising Existence is the Eternally Abiding Constant. Empty yet full. Here yet there. One yet none. Primordial PureUnity knows no bounds..... all is shot through and through with THAT.
